Stizostedion vitreum

Physical features: Torpedo shaped olive green body with two part dorsal fin. Tail fin looks as if it has been dipped in white paint and eye is large and glassy.

Habitat: Lakes, pools, rivers. Often found in cool dark waters avoiding bright sunlight.

Diet: fish and aquatic invertebrates

Fun facts: Walleye are the Minnesota state fish. They are also prized as a popular game fish.
